Ayurveda Diet for Hair Loss




Causes of Hair Loss :

Anemia, any disease in roots of hairs, dandruff, malnutrition of hair, thyroid and any other disease in body are main causes of hair loss.

Symptoms of Hair Loss:

Enormous hair fall with some baldness is the main symptom of hair loss.

1. Remedy using Cabbage leaves:

 Eat approx. 50 gm cabbage leaves per day for one month. It not only prevent hair loss but also promotes growth of new hair.

 2. Methi – Miracle Herb:

Methi is a commonly used herb in our households,   an excellent remedy for hair growth. Grind some slightly dry roasted methi, make a paste of it in warm water depending on hair length and keep it on for 20 minutes before washing off.

3. The Indian Goose Berry:

Better known as Amla or Amlaki, this ayurvedic solution for hair fall helps in treating indigestion and purifies the blood. It is also rich in Vitamin C, which solves many hair problems from within. Grab dried powdered Amla has to be mixed with warm water and used on the scalp to promote thick and black hair.It also imparts colour and solves other problems.

Simple Home Remedies for Cough

1. Turmeric
The herb turmeric has a therapeutic effect on coughs, particularly a dry cough.
  • Heat half a cup of water in a boiling pot. Add one teaspoon turmeric powder, one teaspoon black pepper, and one tablespoon honey. You may also add cinnamon sticks. Boil this for about two to three minutes. Drink this daily until the condition improves.
  • Alternatively, make an herbal tea by adding one teaspoon of turmeric powder and one teaspoon of carom seeds to a cup of water, and boil it until water reduces to one-half cup. Add some honey and drink this herbal solution two to three times a day.
  • Another way to use turmeric is to roast turmeric root and grind it into a smooth powder. Mix it with water and honey, and drink it twice a day.
2. Ginger
Ginger is one of the most popular natural cures for a cough.
  • Cut fresh ginger into small slices and crush them slightly. Put them in a cup of water and bring to a boil. Drink this herbal solution three to four times a day for relief from sore throat, non-stop coughing and even congestion. You can also some lemon juice and honey to it.
  • Another option is to chew fresh raw ginger on and off throughout the day to reduce your cough.
3. Lemon
Lemons can be used in a variety of ways for curing coughs. Lemons have properties that reduce inflammation and also provide a dose of infection-fighting vitamin C.
  • A simple cough syrup can be made by combining two tablespoons of lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey and heating it until warm. Drink this healthy syrup several times a day.
  • Another way to use lemons is to blend lemon juice with a little honey and a pinch of cayenne pepper and then drink it.
4. Garlic
Garlic has both antibacterial and antimicrobial components that help treat coughs.
  • Boil two to three cloves of garlic in a cup of water and add a teaspoon of oregano. Allow it to cool to room temperature, add some honey and drink it. This will help your breathing and alleviate other cough symptoms.
  • Eat a clove of crushed garlic mixed with a few drops of clove oil and some honey for sore throat relief. You can also use garlic in your
cooking.
5. Onion
One of the simplest home remedies for a cough is to cut onions. Breathing in the strong vapors can help stop coughing.
  • You can also make a cough syrup from baked onion juice, comfrey tea and honey. Drink it daily to get relief from a dry cough.
  • Another option is to combine one-half teaspoon of onion juice with one teaspoon of pure honey. Swallow this solution at least twice a day to alleviate a cough and soothe your throat.
6. Hot Milk with Honey
·         Hot milk with honey can relieve a dry cough and reduce chest pain you may be experiencing from continuous coughing. For best results, drink it before going to sleep. For added benefits from the analgesic properties of honey, swallow a teaspoon of plain honey on empty stomach. This will help clear the mucus and soothe your throat.
7. Carrot Juice
Carrots have many vitamins and nutrients that can help relieve various symptoms of a cough. 
  • Make fresh juice from four to five carrots and add some water to dilute it. For taste and added benefits, add one teaspoon of honey.
  • Drink the juice three to four times a day until your symptoms improve.
8. Grapes
·         Grapes have properties that act as an expectorant, releasing the mucus from the affected parts of your respiratory system. The faster you get rid of the mucus, the faster your coughing will end. You can simply eat grapes or make some fresh grape juice. Grape juice with a spoonful of honey will be soothing as well as effective.
9. Almonds
Almonds have nutritional properties that play a proactive role in healing cough symptoms.               
  • Soak five to six almonds in water for 8 to 10 hours.
  • Make a smooth paste out of the soaked almonds and add one teaspoon of butter.
  • Eat it three to four times a day until your symptoms go away.
 
10. Pepper & Honey
·         1teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1tablespoon of honey
8 ounces of fresh water
·         Place the pepper and honey in a mug and then cover with boiling water. Give it stir to disperse the pepper flakes and melt in the honey. Steep for 10 minutes, stir once more, and drink in its entirety. Repeat 1-2 times a day as needed to loosen mucous.

Acne & Pimples



Acne is a skin condition in which there is excess production of oil from the sebaceous glands leading to the blockage of hair follicles. It is the most common problem of adolescents.

• Acne affects 60% of youngsters between 12 to 24 years of age
• It causes embarrassment, depression and lack of confidence

Symptoms to look for:

• Whiteheads
• Blackheads 
• Pimples 
• Red and itchy rashes  

Causes:

The body is unable to remove toxins through excretion leading to        contamination of the bloodstream. This can be due to:
   o Constipation
   o Irregular bowel movement
   o Irregular meal timings
   o Excess starch, sugar, oil and fat consumption

Home Remedies:

1.       Garlic contains allicin, which is a natural antibiotic. Take 2-3 garlic cloves.
2.         Crush them to make a paste. Apply this paste on the affected parts of the skin. For sensitive     skin, mix yogurt in the garlic paste before applying
3.        Consume three cloves of garlic everyday for 1 month.
4.         Take a handful of washed coriander leaves. Crush them finely. Place the paste on a sieve and press to extract the juice. Add a pinch of turmeric powder. Mix well. Apply this mixture on the face every night.
5.       Prepare a paste by mixing equal quantities of saffron, turmeric, margosa (neem), red sandalwood, basil, and fuller’s earth with buttermilk or milk. Apply twice a day.
6.       Prepare a powdered mixture of coriander seeds, fennel, basil, turmeric, and Indian gooseberry (amla; amalaki) in equal parts. Take ½ teaspoon of this powder 15 minutes before lunch and dinner.
                                                                       
7.       Have 1 teaspoon of powdered Indian gooseberry fruit (amla; amalaki) in morning and evening with water.

Diet and Lifestyle:
Avoid spicy, oily, bitter, and sour foods. Eat fresh, unprocessed food.
 Increase the use of herbs that have cooling effects on the body like fennel, coriander seeds, Indian gooseberry (amla; amalaki), and aloe vera.
 Increase intake of water to about 8-10 glasses per day, and take coconut water. 
Wash your face frequently with mild herbal soaps. 
Cleanse your face with lemon peels.
